What does the LED indicator mean?
- LED on = both batteries are connected (charging together).
- LED off = batteries are isolated.
- It may stay on briefly after engine shutdown — this is normal.
- To confirm it’s working, turn off the engine and switch on headlights; the LED should turn off once voltage drops.
Why does the blue LED stay on while using a trickle charger?
This is normal. When the batteries are being charged and both reach connection voltage, the isolator engages, causing the LED to remain lit.
Which battery should my accessories connect to?
Connect your accessories — such as lights, stereos, or winches — to the secondary (auxiliary) battery. This ensures your main battery remains fully charged for starting your vehicle.
How durable is the UTV-SBI-CM?

Can I charge both batteries from solar panels or the alternator?
Yes. The isolator works based on voltage levels, so whether charging from your alternator, solar system, or another source, it will connect both batteries whenever charging voltage is high enough.
What is the small male connector underneath for?
That spade terminal is for an optional remote crank or override wire. It can be used to automatically open the isolator while the starter is engaged, protecting the system from high current draw. It’s optional and not needed for normal operation.
How does the UTV-SBI-CM prevent overcharging of the main battery?
The isolator doesn’t regulate charging current — that’s handled by your vehicle’s alternator or regulator. It simply senses voltage: once the main battery reaches about 13.4 V, it connects the second battery so it can charge. When voltage drops, it disconnects to prevent drain.
